Ganapati Hegde, born in Kumta, Karnataka in 1974, moved to Bangalore for his education, earning a BA from Karnataka University in 2001 and a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Ken School of Arts in 1998. He worked as a Creative Designer while nurturing his passion for painting. Hegde has won numerous state, national, and international awards, including the National Award from Lalit Kala Academy (2009-10). His art is inspired by nature, blending real and imagined worlds filled with vibrant flora, fauna, and fantastical elements. His jungle scenes are populated by creatures like caterpillars, chameleons, monkeys, and butterflies, alongside vivid foliage in blues, reds, greens, and lavenders. His works often feature anthropomorphic animals and urban objects like laptops and furniture, woven into fable-like narratives that encourage viewers to explore multiple perspectives.
