Vinod Sharma

Vinod Sharma, born in 1953, holds a BFA from the College of Arts, New Delhi (1976), and an MFA from M.S. University, Baroda (1978). His art is deeply inspired by the land, exploring both its visible and invisible aspects. Immersed in his subject, Sharma doesn’t just represent nature’s beauty but reveals his profound understanding of it.
Much like 18th and 19th-century landscape artists, Sharma uses the land as a metaphorical canvas to explore philosophical themes, subvert traditions, and uncover untold stories. His traditional medium, with subdued colors and thin oils, creates a calming effect, while his focus on texture invites a deeper connection to the work.
Sharma’s landscapes, often devoid of figures or life, evoke a quiet, almost graphic quality. Through mountains, plains, rivers, and rocks, his paintings offer a space where reality and imagination coexist, drawing viewers into a world rich in depth, texture, and untold narratives.
