Sandeep Jigdung

Sandeep Jigdung, born in 1978 in Assam, completed his BFA and MFA in Painting from the College of Art, New Delhi. His works are deeply inspired by his childhood in Northeast India, with vivid greens symbolizing his connection to the region’s lush landscapes. His signature bamboo groves, towering over everything else, reflect his early experiences amidst the area’s verdant terrain.
While Jigdung’s art is rooted in nature, it also blends fantasy, using dreamlike hues of blues, purples, reds, and yellows to exaggerate the richness of flora and fauna. As he describes it, his work aims to create a “real fantasy” that expresses his longing for an idealized natural world.
Jigdung has exhibited his art widely across India, with notable shows including the 2013 United Art Fair in New Delhi, a solo exhibition Aurora Borealis at the India International Center, and the 2014 The Secret Garden at Palette Art Gallery in New Delhi. His paintings are available for purchase online or at our gallery in Palo Alto (San Francisco Bay Area).
